Description

Bellini is seen as the quintessential Italian opera composer, famed in particular for his long, flowing melodies. He had a significant influence on a number of the most important composers of the 19th Century, such as Verdi, Wagner and Chopin.

Malinconia, Ninfa gentile (‘Melancholy, gentle nymph’) was published in a set of collected compositions entitled Composizioni de Camera in 1935, the centenary of Bellini’s death. The song has moments of beauty and drama, and is ideally suited to performance on brass instruments.
