Description

A giant of the Baroque period, Vivaldi produced a substantial body of work in a variety of genres, including over forty operas. Giustino was composed in 1724 to a libretto by Nicolò Beregan, and premiered in Rome during that year.

Vedrò, con mio diletto (‘I will see with joy’), has become the best-known aria from the work, and a popular concert piece for singers in its own right. Inevitably, instrumentalists have also transcribed it in order to expand their own repertoires (as in the present edition), and as with all vocal music the piece is very effective when performed on brass instruments.
