Description

First published in 1899, Mahler’s settings of twelve poems from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (‘The Youth’s Magic Horn’) have become some of his best-known works. A number of these songs  contain material that was to form an integral part of his early symphonies (most famously Urlicht, used as the fourth movement of his 2nd Symphony), works that should be familiar to most brass players. Wer hat dies Liedlein erdacht? (‘Who Thought up this Pretty Song?’) is relaxed and care-free in, typical of Mahler’s lighter output.
