Description

William Byrd is regarded as one of the most important composers of the Renaissance. Little is known of his early life, however it seems clear that he was heavily influenced by Thomas Tallis, and as such the majority of his output came in the form of choral music. Instrumental music by him was therefore a rarity, and The Earl of Oxford’s March has become a popular fixture in brass repertoire in various instrumentations.

This arrangement was prepared for the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in May 2023.
