Description
Bach’s English Suites (BMV 806 – 811) are generally thought to be the earliest of his 19 keyboard suites, composed between 1713 and 1720. The 4th is arranged here for brass septet by Daniel West.
Originally written for harpsichord (or clavichord), but the piano recordings of Murray Perahia (Bach: The Complete English Suites, Sony BMG 1998-99) are what brought them to my attention to arrange for Septura. The 4th Suite, sitting in the brass-friendly key of F major, with its cheerful, fanfare-like Gigue, became the focus of my work and I arranged it to the best of my ability in 2025 & finished it after a workshop with Septura players in early 2026. – Daniel West, 2026
