Description
Von Gott kömmt mir ein Freudenschein, BWV 172 (vi) is a veritable gem which closes the fine Pentecost Cantata, ‘Erschallet, ihr Lieder’ (Ring out, ye songs). In this version we have employed a two-verse option with an initial statement of the tune (best known as Philip Nicolai’s ‘Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern’) before it is further adorned by a deliciously curving descant. A piccolo trumpet is probably the best option.
